Ho Ho Ho Part 2

by @ 5:12 pm on December 24, 2006.

Oh boy! Our 1st and only day of Christmas shopping, was so much fun!

Surprisingly the Mall wasn’t packed, and everyone we met, was in a jolly mood. Well, except the poor clerk at The Dollar Tree (AKA The 20$ Tree). She looked sad, overworked and so in need of cheer. She gave me a sad lil smile when I wished her a Merry Happy and looked up at the clock.

I remember my days of retail at this time of year, and I loved it. The grumpier the customer, the better the sales, was always my motto. Still, those last 3 hours on the clock, can make anyone less than festive. So I added a candy bar to my pile, and handed it to her as I gathered my bags.

Silly of me to get a lil thrill, seeing her blush and give me a genuine smile. It is my habit to do that small kindness from time to time. Why? I never forgot the Christmas Eve, a long time ago, when a nice older Lady handed a very tired young clerk the Hershey Bar she had just paid for.

It isn’t much really, and I get more from the moment, than I really deserve. There are folks in the world who do truly selfless acts of charity, and put my poor little kindness to shame. They don’t know who she is, but she took her children along and showed them by example, the true meaning of this season. BTW… Naked Girls rock!
